Ards started well and took the leag through a Gary Walker own goal. As the ball was crossed from the right hand flank, The Duns skipper attempped to head to safety, only for the ball to fly over the head of Hughes in the Dundela goal, who done his best to deny the goal. The visitors doubled their advantage thanks to a James Wright free-kick. He curled his shot into the top left corner, leaving Hughes with no chance (See video below)
Gourley had an effort well saved (Click HERE for video) before half time.
The second period saw Dundela press for a goal and hopefully an equaliser. Bloomer and White created chances before Craig McCracken was brought on in place of Willie McIlroy. The former linfield striker found himself free in the box, and after Barry Bloomer crossed to him he couldn't manage to diect his header on target. McCracken made up for it by getting a goal for The Duns. He was played through one on one with McDonald in the Ards goal, and slotted past him. This proved only to only be a consolation, as Dundela pressure late was dealt with by Ards. The best chance in the later minutes saw Wilson misjudge Kerr's pass, leaving the ball for the goalkeeper, unaware that Murray was creeping in, and almost got a touch past McDonald. Kyle Alexander recieved a second yellow, which saw him sent off late on. |
